Although there are no special requirements for the lighting of the aquarium in Fusion^© style, however, when calculating the lighting, you must take into account the presence of the surface part and the need to create the desired mode of lighting.

To illuminate the surface of the aquarium, it is necessary to install additional lights. In this case, mounting the fixtures on the suspension is especially justified. However, it should be remembered that adding a lamp to illuminate the surface of the water, we thereby increase the amount of light in the underwater part, in the case of creating the Fusion^© style in open aquariums.

  I also use two separate light fixtures - for the surface part - LED suspension lamp, for the underwater part - a lamp with fluorescent lamps mounted on the aquarium.

The surface of the aquarium in Fusion^© style, first of all, needs the right choice of plants and proper care for them.

Since no special requirements are imposed on the construction of the surface of the aquarium, the choice of plants for it is only limited by the imagination and capabilities of the aquarist.

When using a phytofilter, plants for it should be selected in accordance with the task set for such a filter. In herbal aquariums, the surface part can even form from the aquarium’s house plants. Simply place flowers and plants on the shelves or stands behind the aquarium, creating a beautiful composition. The main thing is that the surface part organically fit into the design of the aquarium.

  In my aquariums in Fusion^© style , a wide variety of plants grow in the above-water part - Hydrocotyle tripartita, Polygonum sp. Sao Paolo, various mosses, as well as a large number of land plants planted in containers, mounted on the back of the aquarium.

Tillandsia is a genus of around 650 species of evergreen, perennial flowering plants in the family Bromeliaceae, native to the forests, mountains and deserts of northern Mexico and south-eastern United States, Mesoamerica and the Caribbean to mid Argentina. Their leaves, more or less silvery in color, are covered with specialized cells (trichomes) capable of rapidly absorbing water that gathers on them.

The wide species diversity of tillandsia allows it to grow in the most diverse climatic conditions - it is found both in mountainous areas, semi-deserts and savannahs. Adapted to such changing weather events, the plant acquired different species characteristics.

Using air plants of tillandsia in the aquarium, you need to create the conditions they need. Since they are different for different species, before you start designing them on the surface of the aquarium, you should study in detail all the features of their keep.
